ABOUT DISTRICT COURT

It was on 16th of august 1968 the Munsiff court Ganderbal came to be inaugurated and established . it was housed in part of the then Tehsil office Ganderbal- Beehama. The inaugural ceremony was presided over by justice Janki Nath Bhat [of Muran Pulwama]. Several Munsiff courts came to be established in that month and year as the judiciary was separated from executive. The judicial powers of the tehsildars were taken away and only Executive powers remained with them. Land for the court complex was purchased at a distance of about 200 mtrs in Beehama from the then Tehisil office. Court building and residential quarter came to be constructed and the court was shifted to the newly constructed building in the year 1972. The building was inaugurated at a glittering function by Justice Syed Murtaza Fazal Ali [ the then Chief Justice of J&K High Court]. The jurisdiction of the court extended over whole of the Tehsil Ganderbal starting from Buchpora extending upto Bal Tal. It included two revenue estates from Tehsil Srinagar, that is Gadoora and Haran.
